today was especially hectic at work for a multitude of reasons i will not go into here….let’s just say that i was getting my butt handed to me and leave it at that. in the midst of the buttkicking i received a phone call from my boy monster declaring that he had strep. seriously? this child had been healthy all weekend and had no complaints this morning before i sent him to school. i told him to take a seat and i’d be there as soon as i could (which wasn’t all that quick, but hey i had things that HAD to be done at work.) eventually i made it to the school where my son met me at the door ready to leave. he looked stressed. he looked sad. he did not look sick.
i took him home with the specific instructions that he was not allowed on the computer, video game systems or tv. he wasn’t even allowed to read his Pokamonn books, just his Eyewitness ones. i did not have a very happy boy monster. by the time lunch was finished and he was instructed he had to lay back down….and NO he would not be able to have his privleges back as soon as school let out the truth escaped: I HATE MATH!!! AND I HATE THE STUPID GREEKS TOO FOR INVENTING IT!!!!!!!
seriously? yes.
there were tears, there were screams, there may even have been the stomping of feet. when all that was done there was getting back in the jeep and taking his butt back to school where he got to exlain to the office and his special teacher that he had a severe case of mathitus. explicit instructions were given that the ONLY way i was to ever be called for a sick kid prior to 3rd hour was if he is puking up his stomach lining or you can fry and egg on his forehead.
is it christmas break yet?

so the monsters and i went shopping on friday night for a replacement blender. after much deliberation and searching we decided to go with The Magic Bullet system (which was on sale.) i was not sure because of the whole infomercial cheese factor but the nice ladies at carson’s told me i could bring it back if i was not satisfied for any reason.
this thing is AWESOME. our shakes have never been creamier. add bonus: i now have a food processor! this baby chops, it dices, it blends, it creams, it freaking liquifies anything given enough time.
todays shakes (yes we now can have different flavors): berry cheesecake for the girl monster and chocolate peanut butter banana for me….mmmmmm
now what’s for dinner on this jammed packed night of soccer practice and band booster meeting? I think the cold weather is calling for me to throw something in the crockpot during my lunch.

BREAKFAST:
how i make a fabulous strawberry caramel chocolate cheesecake protein shake
- wake up early
- dump ice, protein mix, pudding and strawberries in my fabulous blender
- search around aimlessly for what seemed like forever to find the caramel syrup which was setting right next to my fabulous Kenmore blender the entire time
- blend up shake in my fabulous, red Kenmore blender.
- grab the blender off the stand and in your exhaustion from having the freakiest, most vivid dreams ever twist instead of lift and dump 1/2 of the shake all over my fabulous, red, that matches Betty (my red stand mixer) Kenmore blender.
- give the saved half of shake to the girl monster for breakfast
- clean my breakfast off my fabulous, red, that matches Betty (my red stand mixer), Kenmore, now nonfunctioning blender.
lunch has to be better….

last night bro #1 and friends went with the SIL and me to the local nature center to celebrate our birthdays. it was advertised as a Mystery Night and delivered awesome good fun. we spent a couple hours figuring out word puzzles, logic problems and going on a scavenger hunt. my team won…was i obnoxious about it? most definitely
but with great love and affection towards my overly competetive family members (you know who you are!) while there we met someone who told us all about her adventures in geocaching….guess who had already mapped out the closest cache’s before they made it home *coughs* overly competetive family members *coughs* we went on our first adventures today. SO. MUCH. FUN. and best of all it’s an excuse to hang out with my brother and his family. winning all around.

our first adventure was RIPdog….it was a group effort. we picked up a wooden rune and left a vintage metal flower.

after a phone call letting us know that the bro and crew had ventured out without us the girl monster and i hightailed it to the next stop on our map, Lucky 7. We picked up a giant penny and left a flower.

today we also celebrated the nephews 11bday. i love my big crazy family
